Supporting Accessible Instructional Materials in Tennessee

Purchase Accessible Learning Materials (PALM)

The PALM Initiative is an effort by the National Center on Accessible Instructional Materials to highlight resources and technology that function much like the specialized resources of AIM.   Palm stands for Purchase Accessible Learning Materials.  One advantage of purchasing materials that are accesible by design is that it reduces the needs to purchase, request, acquire, and implement additional technologies to make content accessible for students with a print disability.   Another advantage of the PALM concept is that by purchasing accessible learning materials from the start students who may benefit from accessible resources but who may not meet the legal requirements for a print disability can still have the resources they need to be successful.
